Fortum Recycling & Waste acquires GRK’s slag processing business

Fortum Recycling & Waste has entered into a commercial agreement with GRK Suomi Oy regarding the acquisition of GRK’s slag processing business. The acquisition does not include any personnel. At the same time, Fortum and GRK will also agree on collaboration regarding the use of the mineral fractions resulting from refining the slag.
Fortum Recycling & Waste is the largest service provider for processing bottom ash from waste incineration plants in the Nordics and continues to grow through the acquisition. The acquisition will also strengthen Fortum’s receiving and processing capacity for ash and slag as well as expand GRK’s opportunities to act as the pioneer in infrastructure construction and increase carbon-wise construction in infrastructure.
GRK has served its bottom ash processing clients with utmost expertise. Fortum will continue GRK’s high-quality service business and ensure a seamless transition to existing clients.
